Course Overview:
The Basic Life Support (BLS) course provides healthcare providers and public safety professionals the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adult child and infant patients. This class is taught in a blended learning format and the online portion (accessed via mobile desktop or tablet) must be completed prior to attending the instructor-led skills session. Upon successful completion of the course learners will receive a 2-year Basic Life Support digital certificate with anytime anywhere access to certificate and training history.In support of improving patient care American Red Cross is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.The American Red Cross is an accredited provider of continuing education by the Commission on Accreditation for Prehospital Continuing Education.For additional information on receiving healthcare continuing education credit go to https://redcross.cloud-cme.com/content/ceinfo
Course Format:
- Blended Learning: Includes both online training and an in-person skills session.
- Online Training: Must be completed before attending the in-person class.
- Duration: 1-3 hours. Start at least 48 hours before the in-person session.
- In-Person Training: Hands-on skills session must be completed within 90 days of the online training.
Certification:
- Validity: 2 years
- Certificate: Digital, accessible any time after successful completion
Registration Requirements:
- Proof of Online Completion: Required to attend the in-person class.
- Email: A valid email address is required for registration and course-related information. Use a unique email for each person if registering multiple people.
- Comfortable Clothing: Dress comfortably as skills will be performed on the floor. A full round of CPR is required.
- Medical Restrictions: Contact the office before registering if you have medical restrictions to inquire about accommodation.
- Children: No children allowed in the in-person class (nursing infants are an exception).
